Content Marketing: (noun) – a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of material online that does not explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services.
Types of Content
There are a variety of types of content that people can incorporate into their content marketing strategy. The most common are written blog articles. It’s inexpensive to get started, and easy for search engines to crawl for indexing.
Another great source of audience engagement, however, is graphic media. Large graphics that you get to scroll down and learn information from are referred to as infographics. These garner great attention when they are well researched and informative. They are easily shared on Social Media and can drive traffic just as easily as a shared article.
When a single image isn’t enough, video marketing is typically the next step in a content marketing strategy. Video is also easily sharable on Social Media, but it has the added benefit of engaging people through both vision and hearing senses, as well as holds the uncanny ability to emotionally connect with audiences.
Amount of Content
One of the first questions asked by small business owners or marketers that are interested in content marketing for their business is, “How much content should I be making?” Search engines want consistency more than anything. A regular, weekly posting schedule of written articles is the best place to start. Once your marketing has generated additional revenue you can increase the posting rate.
